Adobe Says Goodbye To Apple

Partnerships have been at the very heart of Android, the first truly open and comprehensive mobile platform, since we first introduced it with the Open Handset Alliance. Through close relationships with carriers, device manufacturers, developers, and others, Google is working to enable an open ecosystem for the mobile world by creating a standard, open mobile software platform. Today we're excited that, working with Adobe, we will be able to bring both AIR and Flash to Android.

Google believes that developers should have their choice of tools and technologies to create applications. By supporting Adobe AIR on Android we hope that millions of creative designers and developers will be able to express themselves more freely when they create applications for Android devices. More broadly, AIR will foster rapid and continuous innovation across the mobile ecosystem.

This is the most hopeful movement the mobile development community could ask for.

"iPad Provides the Ultimate Browsing Experience?"

Get used to the blue icons... In response to this Apple didn't want users to feel that their web browsing experience was broken so they just removed the blue icons. Grant Skinner comes to the rescue....

I believe that this is a not so subtle way of shifting users from believing that the iPad browser is lacking something, to believing that the site they are viewing is broken.

In response to this, I've created the blueLego edition of SWFObject 2.2. It works exactly the same as regular SWFObject, except it will display the blue lego icon, with a link to Adobe's get Flash Player page on iPhone, iPod, and iPad. It is released under the MIT license, and you can download it by clicking here.

Publishers Push Back

Apple CEO Steve Jobs reportedly told the Wall Street Journal it would be "trivial" for the newspaper to ditch Adobe's Flash software in preparation for the iPad.

Pfft Who uses Flash anyway right?!?.... ONLY THE ENTIRE WORLD STEVE!!!! This is one "Think Different" moment where you're not being pivotal; you're just being an ass. You can't admit that your OS is more skin than muscle and in all it's glory it's too weak to run Flash. If you would have just given Adobe the specs to your video card drivers then there would be a Flash 10.1 for you too! How can you try to fight with the one software company that is the reason people use MAC? At my office our Flash Developers are on PCs because they'd rather get work done than lose time and money to constantly rebooting a crashing mac.

HAHAH Not every video call is as magical as you think it would be.

Using this feature on my HTC Evo was great because when I went Apt shopping in Seattle, my wife and I were able to show her parents the apts as we saw them. We didn't need WiFi in order to use it. We wouldn't be able to do it with the iPhone 4.
